How to prepare for Java SE 11 Developer 1Z0-819 exam?

The latest news is that Oracle has announced a new Java SE 11 Developer 1Z0-819 exam. Along with that, they are also retiring the 1Z0-815 and 1Z0-816 exams, effective October 1st, 2020. So let us look at the exam details and preparation resources for this exam.

Exam Details

  • Time: 90 minutes
  • No of Questions: 50
  • Passing score: 68%

This exam costs less than the exams about to be expired, so that is an advantage.

Changes in Objectives

The new exam is apparently a combined version of the 1Z0-815 and 1Z0-816 exams. However, they have removed the following objectives.

  • Characteristics of Java (platform independence, backwards compatibility, etc)
  • Running a basic program from the command line (except modules)
  • Java Assertions
  • JDBC CallableStatement

You do not need to know how to use methods, such as Object.wait(), Object.notify() , Thread.join() , etc. Instead, you need to focus on Concurrency API.

You can visit the official website to view the detailed list of objectives of the new exam.

OCP Oracle Certified Professional Java SE 11 Developer Complete Study Guide: Exam 1Z0-815, Exam 1Z0-816, and Exam 1Z0-817 published by Wiley Publishing is a good preparatory book for the new exam.
